As you may know, I will only stay in Austria for a few more months so I’m using every opportunity to check all of these breakfast spots still on my list. Here is one of my favorites at the moment: Bits and Bites. It’s just around the corner of where I live so I really enjoy the short way to this little place. This is to say: do make a reservation – especially for brunch! And don’t go there if you are in a hurry: this place wants you to slow down and take your time. Slow food doesn’t fit with quick and hurried. This place is therefore perfectly located in a calm side street of the Mariahilfer street. Take a look for yourself:
I’ve been to Bits and Bites several times, but the avocado toast (5,80€) was always a hit! The tasty guacamole is served on crusty bread by the organic bakery Gragger in Vienna. It is beautifully decorated with herbs and edible flower petals.
The porridge (7,30€) with oats and honey is nicely decorated with different fruits like blueberries, cherries, strawberry slices and passion fruit; topped with chia seeds, cashew nuts and cacao nibs. The cherries are even pitted! The porridge is not so sweet but I really like it that way. And I’ve never seen a porridge as delightfully served as this one.
I also tried their granola (7,50€) made of oats, spelt, coconut, hazelnut, walnut, amaranth, dates, chia seeds, maca, baobab and cacao nibs. It is served with fresh fruit and joghurt. And again, you won’t only find apple and banana on your plate!
We also ordered some fluffy scrambled eggs (5,90€) with tomatoes, onions, chives and Gragger bread. Everything was served on these lovely plates! I can’t remember the brand, though…
To drink, we all had a great cappuccino (3,20€). The direct trade coffee beans come from Felix Kaffee. Bits and Bites does also serve fresh homemade juices. I especially liked the exotic one made of apple, carrot, mango, pineapple, coconut, passion fruit and orange (5,30€) – although the passion fruit was not so perceivable the 2. time I ordered it. Perfectly served though with a metal drinking straw!
The interior is so lovely! I really like this simple scandinavian style with a lot of wood. Graphic details make this little place very cosy and the bar fits perfectly my taste! Can’t wait to try their Vitamin Brekkie and Superfood Smoothie!
